Certifications aren’t everything (part 1).
The first few years of my career I was super focused on getting certifications. I got caught up in what everyone else was doing and felt the need to compete.
My advice to new practitioners (whether it be physio, chiro, personal training, etc.): focus on gaining knowledge through EXPERIENCE and don’t worry about letters behind your name.
You need time to learn from the people you’re helping and working with. You need time to absorb what you have learned so far, implement it, and figure out what works for you and your clients.
Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing, particularly on social media!
Take a course if you are intrinsically interested in the topic. Remember to still think critically and try not to fit every client into one specific paradigm.
And often you can learn the basics of a course you’re interested in, if you have a colleague who has already taken it and is kind enough to share (as they should!).
