Why you should exercise with chronic pain
Did you know that exercise can help decrease sensitivity to pain? This is especially important if you have chronic pain, something that’s complicated by a heightened, overly sensitive alarm system.
Consistent exercise can help dampen that alarm system and stop the bells from ringing for every little thing.
Flare-ups with exercise can happen, but remember! Pain doesn’t necessarily indicate tissue damage.
Gradual, progressive exercise can help mitigate flare-ups and build your overall movement and exercise tolerance. You’re reminding your brain and body that movement is ok and safe. Rest is not the solution.
