My scan shows a rotator cuff tear, I need surgery right?

Not necessarily! Just because we have a finding on a scan, doesn’t mean it explains YOUR pain or dysfunction. A number of studies have shown that people without any symptoms will often have findings.

I’ve had many clients with scans that show partial, or even full rotator cuff tears, and they have normal range of motion and strength.

So don’t panic at the thought of being fragile and immediately needing surgery.

If you have shoulder pain, get assessed by a Physiotherapist first - and give rehab time and an honest try. There’s always hope!
