Overtraining in Youth Athletes

Youth who are lucky enough to participate in organized sports stand to reap a variety of benefits. Yet the extreme of that comes with risks.

Youth athletes who play in multiple leagues, participate in numerous training camps and tournaments, and work with private coaches and trainers risk overtraining and injury from playing all year round, especially in a single sport.

All athletes need to strike a balance between training and competing, against active recovery/rest and cross training .

So check in with your youth athlete, assess their training and sport schedule, and check for any signs of overtraining.

My goal is to help youth athletes to not only reach their full potential, but more importantly stay in the game.
