How do I know I’m ready to play again?
The decision to return to your sport can rely on many factors but I personally feel that the points below are all crucial to ensure you’re fully prepared in every way:
Do you have full strength and range of motion?
Did your rehab include all aspects of your sport?
Did your drills include unanticipated maneuvers?
Have you practised the hardest aspects of your sport?
Have all of the above been gradual and progressive?
While there are no gold standards, have you had any type of return-to-play testing?
Do you feel confident or are you anxious?
Are you pain-free?
Key point: don’t let time and outside influences pressure you to play before you’re physically or mentally ready. It’s not worth the rush to return before you feel 100% in every aspect.
Work with a great team, train hard, be consistent.
