See a Physiotherapist first.

Client testimonial:

“I had a bad knee for years and couldn't do basic movements or activities like squats and running. Even stairs hurt. I got it looked at this year by a doctor and sought Kat's advice while waiting for an MRI and further discussion with an orthopedic surgeon.

She felt I still had a lot of life left in my knee, and really encouraged me to commit to a rehab program. She explained that it could possibly keep me from needing surgery, but worst case scenario I would at least be more prepared if that’s what it came down to.

After our first session I immediately felt better. I kept up the exercises given by Kat with a regular routine of yoga, biking, and strengthening. I can now workout my legs pain- and worry-free, as well as wake up in the morning without any pain.

I am super excited to get back to playing sports and overall improving my strength.”

The biggest takeaway from my client in the last post is how being assessed by a Physiotherapist FIRST can really change your trajectory. Primary care doctors and specialists can do wonders but I think we can imagine how different his story would be if he didn’t start by giving Physiotherapy a good try first.

Physiotherapists assess and treat the body as a whole. We screen to see if you need imaging or other medical intervention. We know our anatomy and specialize in maximizing movement and function.

You don’t need a doctor’s referral so there’s no wasted time, and trust me, we can absolutely safely treat without seeing a script or scan.

So go see a Physiotherapist first!

(And don’t worry, I know we can’t do it all, so I’m always happy to refer out and collaborate as a team, especially if I know Physiotherapy won’t help or we hit a plateau)
