The best way to lift something.
The age-old advice to “lift with your legs” still stands but the idea that we should keep our spines neutral/straight doesn’t.
Studies have shown that a) it’s not possible to totally maintain lumbar lordosis (that arch in your low back) and that b) flexing/bending a bit can actually be more efficient.
Just as there is more than one way to walk, run, or sit, there’s more than one way to safely lift something.
Choose a method and posture that feels most comfortable and efficient to you! If it works for you, great. If it doesn’t, only then should you reconsider your approach.
Don’t let fear keep you from moving!
