The myth about bad exercises.
Every exercise comes with benefits and relative risks. If you have never done that motion or load, or recently, then yes it may pose more risk for you. Does that mean you should never do it? Nope. You just have to prepare for it.
I’m here to promote movement - not fear monger and create movement anxiety. I have met too many clients who due to an old injury, no longer bend their backs or lift heavy items or attempt the activities they enjoy. I rarely take motions or activities off the table, and if I have to, I am very clear that it is temporary.
My approach is to gradually expose clients to different motions and loads. The idea is to prepare you to take on anything and with confidence - whether it’s for a sport or life in general. I love that moment when it clicks for a client and they realize how much they’re capable of.
So don’t fear exercises or activities. And if something truly doesn’t work for you, we can definitely find other variations with the same benefits. Get moving!
