Ultrasound and IFC/TENS are outdated.

I don't like to bash other practitioners - there is plenty of space for everyone and it's great that there are so many approaches to treating musculoskeletal dysfunction. But it REALLY irks me when in 2020 I still hear of clients receiving ultrasound and TENS/IFC for their treatments, because:

1. Many clinical studies have shown that ultrasound is ineffective.

2. TENS/IFC provides only very temporary pain relief.

3. While there is no harm in using these modalities, there are FAR better ways to use a client's time and resources!

I make use of every single minute with my client, whether it's through manual work, education, or exercise. Every session I ask myself, what will have the most impact on this client's recovery? How much can I appropriately progress? What do they need today, as well as long term?

So if this is the kind of treatment you are currently receiving, do yourself a favour and consider a new Physiotherapist, one who can do a lot more for you. You deserve better.
