You can’t selectively train the VMO.
Not sure who still needs to hear this in 2021 but somehow this idea persists!
The signal to activate the VMO would have to go through the femoral nerve, which innervates the entire quadriceps group.
Since the VMO doesn’t have it’s own nerve, it can’t be selectively trained or strengthened. Period.
The muscle sections of the quadriceps don’t and can’t function separately from one another. You can’t bias the VMO with different positions or angles.
So just train the quad as a whole! (because you don’t have any other choice HA).
